PLF operates in the B2B fuel card trading market - a niche with specific compliance requirements, long deal cycles, and complex client relationships. No off-the-shelf CRM understood their workflow: fuel card providers, fleet operators, and trading intermediaries all required different data models and communication flows. The team was working from spreadsheets and email threads with no pipeline visibility, no automated follow-up, and no audit trail for compliance purposes.
We built a custom CRM platform from the ground up, designed specifically for fuel card trading operations. The data model reflects the actual business: fuel card providers, fleet clients, trading volumes, contract terms, and rebate structures - all properly related in PostgreSQL. The frontend (Next.js) gives the sales team a clean pipeline view with deal stage tracking, client interaction history, and document storage. n8n handles automation across the entire workflow: lead intake from multiple sources, qualification routing by client type and volume tier, multi-step follow-up sequences with timing logic, contract milestone reminders, and compliance event logging. Claude processes weekly pipeline data and generates AI-written deal summaries and client risk assessments for the management team. All activity is audit-logged for regulatory compliance.
